Viewing Sessions

When the venue and weather permits, I bring a computerized telescope for viewing.  Using a GOTO scope allows viewing of several objects in a short time, which can be difficult under the light polluted and hazy skies of suburban Chicago.

Over the years I have found there is a strong emotional reaction to seeing objects yourself.  While a portable telescope cannot approach the images available in books and magazines, the WOW factor of seeing the faint light with your own eye is very powerful.  Seeing a child view Saturn for the first time is as fun for me as the child.  I've also noticed that parents are often more excited by the view than some of the children.

Each viewing session is planned for the best objects available for the season.  Background information about each object is provided during the viewing session.
